Special clinical interest in interventional cardiology, CT coronary angiography and cardiac MRI
Michael graduated MBBS (distinction) from the University of Adelaide in 1976. He continued post-graduate training at the Royal Adelaide Hospital and Flinders Medical Centre, before completing his cardiology training at Green Lane Hospital in Auckland, New Zealand. He worked with the Medical Research Council of New Zealand developing new methods for treating heart attacks. He subsequently completed an MD at Washington University, St Louis investigating heart metabolism with positron emission tomography.
On his return to Australia in 1988, Michael continued his interest in interventional cardiology and non-invasive cardiac imaging with echocardiography at the Royal Adelaide Hospital. He joined GenesisCare (formerly Adelaide Cardiology) in 1994 while continuing to work at the RAH with a strong interest in interventional cardiology, while contributing to the development of CT coronary angiography and cardiac MRI at St Andrew’s and Wakefield Hospital. Michael consults at the St Andrew’s Medical Centre, Leabrook, Unley, Modbury, Kadina and Mannum clinics.
